Introduction

Steven Connor is a Grace 2 Professor of English in the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Peterhouse, Cambridge. He has been writing since 1985, often analyzing culture and history.

In Paraphernalia: The Curious Lives of Magical Things, published by Profile Books, Steven Connor explores the history of common items that people use every day. The novel is currently in it’s second addition with a brand new cover designed by Telecomme, a two person design firm based in London, England and specializes in old timey typography and graphics.

Solution

Our objective is to capture the new cover’s style and create a website for customers to explore the novel, learn more about the items covered, and experience the seminars that Steven Connor has given about the cultural signifigance of items.

Based off of Amazon’s statistics of the novel, Paraphernalia: The Curious Lives of Magical Things is currently ranked #592,969 in paid Kindle books, and is currently ranked #39 under Crafts, Hobbies and Home > Antiques and Collectibles > Popular Culture.

Although the book is approaching two years old, a new website can help reinvigorate sales by providing a new interactive way of experiencing the book. Including social media can also increase the exposure to the book, potentially gaining new readers and users.
